About Me

My photo
My wife Toni and I live in the beautiful Catskill mountains, where we love to spend time with family & friends. I enjoy working in the gardens, reading, hanging out at the lake and enjoying the bounty of our lives. In 2007 I started my own business and named it after our dog Spencer. Wurtsboro Hills Lake

Last month my buddy Mike Durdovic stopped by and we did the tour of Wurtsboro Hills and the lake. Sad to say the lake is in terrible condition.
It has been abandoned for the last three years. Someone broke into the concession and trashed the shed where all the lake equipment, tables and umbrellas were stored. The raft is stuck in the muck on the side of the lake by the basketball court. We think the county owns the lake now. It has been put up for auction but I don't think anyone is interested. Here are some pictures:

On our old stomping ground

No lifeguard, no swimming but plenty of memories
We visited Joe Cirone who is recovering from a stroke.Mike and Joe have been friends since about 1961.
I'm a new friend since 1966

A few days after our visit to the lake someone "borrowed" a table and umbrella from the lake shed for his backyard. It was the only umbrella that wasn't destroyed. The someone who "borrowed the set had used them since the early 1960's and they held many memories for him. When that someone went to check the lake after the recent hurricanes he saw that someone, probably kids, had thrown the remaining tables over the spillway. I think Mrs. Bletz would be very pleased that a little part of of the Wurtsboro Hills lake has been saved.

Back OnLine

So Wurtsboro boy is back online after an exhausting eight months. As many of you know we lost Toni's Dad  in March and my Mom in April. The dog has been sick and we had to empty out my folk's house to get it on the market. All of this was and is emotionally & physically exhausting.
But we move on and I hope to post more regularly to all my tens of fans.
